M06 CP - Home Page & Navigation System, Final Project

I completed my home page and navigation system for a non-profit organization called Operation Adopt a Soldier Inc. (www.operationadoptasoldier.org, is there existing site).  They are a local group that works with soldiers and their families as well as veterans to aid them by doing whatever necessary to help out at no cost to the soldier or their family.   I enjoyed this project as well as scavenging the internet for interesting and eye catching photos that I could manipulate to create what I was looking for.  The navigation system that I created I thought was interesting by creating most of the main page links at the top of the site and locating a volunteer link at the bottom under the main story photos.  I choose black for the organization header because it gave it a look similar to that of a top secret folder.  I put the starts together to act like radial buttons on the website menu.  Also, as with any current organization website I added social networking icons as well.

First Draft.  Did not like the text at all...

Final:  Decided on black and white for the background to really bring out the green on the "green earth" picture.  Also feel that it helped accent the text at the top allowing it to draw your attention back to the bottom text.  Thoughts ???
Revised version of final split in two with larger text:

M04 Book Cover Design Final

Found these classical guys called "The Piano Guys" on YouTube.com.    Pretty neat how they transform current and past songs into their own classical remedy.  I enjoyed listening and watching some of the videos on YouTube.com that they have put together. I choose the black background because when I envision a piano I always think of the gloss jet black that some come in that contrasts well with the ivory keys.

Their website link is below along with their Youtube Channel if interested:

M03 CP - Awareness Poster (Part 2)

Working on this heart awareness poster for the American Heart Association was interesting in that I was able to play around with a few different font preferences before I finally chose the final outcome.  I chose my fonts Rockwell and Blackadder ITC, based on the chart on "Complementary Typeface Pairs" from Typography Crash Course with Denise Bosler's article(pg.73) I chose a picture of my son on the beach for a background and incorporation both the American Heart Association Logo as well as an interesting eye I found with two hands forming a heart in the reflection of the iris.  I used the eye dropper tool to pick the color green for the thought text from my son's shirt and used the black for the factual information to bring attention back to reality after reading the thought process.  Here is what I came up with:

M03 CP - Awareness Poster (Part 1)

My awareness poster is going to be focused on heart health and how it affects everyone.  This would be a poster for the American Heart Association.   I am planning on using a heart and eye possibly for the background. I am also planning on integrating the faces of all sorts of people with happy emotion.  The text would include a dramatic saying to catch the viewers eye.  The main theme would be in regard to how life is short do not wait until your life flashes before your eyes to get checked.  Here are a few of the images that I may use.
